Dalshabet - Mr. Bang Bang
'I know you have your eyes on me;
You are a guy with no guts.
How longer is it gonna take?
Oh, OK let me make the move...'
Which is to.....rob a bank(?)
Dalshabet is back and with a new member. After the sad departure of Viki we see the group releasing a more upbeat and cute song 'Mr. Bang Bang' (which we're guessing is referring to the gun...because there is no particular guy in this MV disappointing.)
This song is definitely a very catchy song however what caught our eyes more was the actual MV and it's story-line.
We first see what seems like a 'take-all-our-money-away' bank and we say this because...they have no vault. What the bank has no vaults? And on top of that, not only is all of the money kept in broad daylight....they're also readily packed for anyone and everyone to take. We trust this bank. And why on earth are the money in dollars? The bank clearly has Korean customers judging by the people visiting and the staff working in the bank.
Next we see what looks like an attempted robbery by Dalshabet. They strut in with their heels, attracting attention and with their guns blazing literally. We thought that the concept of bank robbery was to be subtle and to not let anyone know your identity....obviously we have been reading from the wrong 'Robbery for Dummies' book. Next time, we'll make sure that every eye witness can recognize us and give a full in depth description of us in the police station.
Since the robbery wasn't going as planned (we're guessing), they decide to break out on their very unique gun dance which we must say is very cute. It fits the line 'Bang bang' and Dalshabet dance it out very well. This dance move is one of our favorites and it provides a more safer way of using guns. Bravo.
Plus themen hostages seem to be enjoying this dance and aren't worried about their lives at all. Who would be?
Further along the MV, it suddenly changes from this being a bank robbery into a charity giveaway. Usually, a bank robbery is more swift and once you have the money, the idea is to run as fast as you can with itby yourself. Here however, they take the money out of the ready-made bags and flaunt it. Maybe they didn't have a hiding place...they could use the money to buy one. They seem so happy to have finally gotten some money that they decide to spread the joy and give it to everyone in sight. It's like giving away candy in Halloween. Of course, the hostages gladly accept it...who wouldn't? It's free money! (and that is not something you hear often) But what the hostages don't realize is that they are given their own money which they, a minute ago, put in the bank.
Finally, the cops show up. (Justice has arrived, or so we thought. . .) They have an intense shootout like atmosphere.....for about a second. Once the money is in the air, the cops don't care(!). They rush over like little puppies and pick up the money for themselves. You'd think that they'd be more careful to not show that the police force is corrupted. Are they trying to suggest some sort of subliminal message? *silence* No...no...we don't think.
And it is not only the cops that run over, all the hostages available plus the bank staff grab all the money that they could get their hands on. Realizing that the actual police force is coming, everyone takes a quick exit with evidence all over their hands (how subtle). They decide to run away while they can and they do so by going to the back of the bank(?) If you haven't noticed yet, none of the people that come and go in this MV ever use the front door. Everyone seems to materialize at the back of the bank, including the fake cops. Unless there is a back door that they're forgotten to show us, teleportation is the only plausible reason that we can think of.
Overall, this MV doesn't have the greatest story-line but it is very interesting and amusing to watch. It's one of the few MV's that have actually made us laugh out loud. Dal Shabet are quirky and so are their costumes. They have a whole bunch of concepts shoved into one MV which we don't think works out very well but it
does make it more interesting to watch. With their costume changes we were constantly confused as to what the theme really was....a western theme? a club theme?...bank theme (can you even have that)?
Do we understand this MV.....of course we don't. Did we enjoy it? Yes very much so.
Dal Shabet are getting used to having a new member and we give them credit for being so tight as a group despite everything going on. It's a nice change from all the other MV's out there that seem to follow a doom and gloom theme. It's very quirky and we like that. And of course, they all look stunning. We hope that next time, they come out with a more organised theme.

Oh..no big deal...just a gun. |
Also, it's very obvious that this is their first bank robbery. They're all over the place and get scared by their own gun shot.
